Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Around 1900 soldiers are deployed in Baden-Württemberg to deal with the corona pandemic.
As the Ministry of the Interior announced on Wednesday, a large number of them (782) in old people's and nursing homes are helping to carry out rapid corona tests.
According to Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU), the soldiers are helping to ensure that residents can receive visitors and do not have to be sealed off.
Other soldiers support, for example, the health authorities or the procedure in vaccination centers.
Strobl also thanked the emergency services, technical relief organizations and fire brigades for their work since the beginning of the corona pandemic.
In the past few weeks in particular, they have put their heart and soul into the logistics and operation of the vaccination centers.
