Frauenberg (dpa / lrs) - Workers found a self-made pipe bomb near Frauenberg (Birkenfeld district).
It was controlled by explosives experts in a remote area to detonate, the police announced on Tuesday evening.
The workers were therefore busy expanding the fiber optic network when they found the object wrapped in aluminum foil on Tuesday.
The police then cordoned off a large area.
The railway line between Kronweiler and Idar-Oberstein was also closed for several hours.
According to initial findings, the pipe bomb must have been there for a long time.
The police has started investigation.
