Hanover (dpa / lni) - Lower Saxony wants to facilitate the shooting of deer, wild boar and other game in a new hunting law.

The State Chancellery in Hanover announced that one goal of the modernized hunting law is to contribute to the establishment and conversion of stable mixed forests.

To achieve this, the wild population must be "reduced and kept regionally to a level that is compatible with the ecosystem".

The cabinet passed the draft on Tuesday, on which the hunting and environmental associations are now supposed to comment.

When hunting deer, the previous limit on kills should be replaced by a minimum kill plan.

The on-site vote will be delegated to the forest owners and hunters.

For red deer, fallow deer and mouflon, there should be three-year shooting plans in the future, so additional permits for the current hunting year could be dispensed with.

The ban on night targeting technology is to be dropped in order to simplify the hunt for wild boar or immigrant nocturnal species such as raccoons.

The planned huntability of the wolf is not yet in the draft.

The government factions SPD and CDU want to add them in the course of the parliamentary procedure.

The new law, including the regulations for wolves, could be passed this year.
