Earlier this week, we reported that Söderhamn was the municipality hardest hit by covid-19 in the county.

Via postal codes, we have mapped the infection.

Before the Christmas holidays, the spread of infection in the municipality was the worst in the whole country, in terms of population.

During week 50, 1.1 percent of the inhabitants of the municipality were infected with covid-19 and every fifth health and care employee was absent from sickness.

- Then we were very worried - how will we cope with the weekends?

We do not have staff who can go on tours, we can not staff the houses, says Anders Ramstrand (KD), chairman of the nursing committee.

Unclear messages

- What has been difficult is to communicate to citizens which guidelines apply.

That information has been quite unclear to the municipalities.

You have had to try to interpret it yourself and wait for information from the Public Health Agency and the county administrative board, says Marjo Myllykoski (M), chairman of the culture and service committee.

Anders Ramstrand (KD) agrees:

- In retrospect, I will sit down and think: Have we been given the conditions as local politicians?

Increasing reports of unrest

One of the side effects of the pandemic is an increased number of reports of concern concerning children and young people.

- We are on the verge of rupture for what we can handle with reports of unrest.

Here we are probably on an equal footing with equivalent municipalities around the country, says Per-Olof Stål (C), chairman of the labor market and social committee.
