The Östergötland region is now preparing to open the large vaccination centers in Linköping, Norrköping and Motala.

To increase safety and security at the opening of vaccination centers, the Östergötland Region works with, among others, the police.

- We know that there is a certain threat when it comes to theft, for example, which we work with together with the police, says Rickard Lundin, health care manager in the Östergötland Region.

Potential terrorist target

The question of whether the larger vaccination centers around the country could be a potential terrorist target has been raised recently.

Among other things, by the terrorism researcher at the Swedish National Defense College Magnus Ranstorp, who tells Ekot that the security around the vaccination centers should be reviewed.

Rickard Lundin says that the region in collaboration with the municipalities, the police authority and the county administrative board has discussed these issues, but adds that he can not develop more than that.

- Exactly how we work with those issues, I have a hard time going into precisely for the security aspect.
