A simple road check almost turned into a tragedy on Friday at the end of the day in the Bréquigny district in Rennes, we learned on Tuesday.

It was around 6.30 p.m. when the police tried to stop a vehicle that was traveling at high speed on avenue Georges-Graff with four people on board.

The 19-year-old driver initially refused to obey the motorcyclists' orders.

One of the officers attempted to put his body inside the passenger compartment of the car to grab the keys from the ignition.

The young man then suddenly reversed, colliding with two police motorcycles and a parked vehicle.

The two other officers present were forced to draw their service weapon to control the individual who rebelled at the time of his arrest.

Without a license and in possession of cannabis

Driving without a license, the young man was also driving under the influence of drugs and was in possession of a few grams of cannabis resin.

Tried this Tuesday afternoon in immediate appearance, he was sentenced to ten months in prison.
