Bayreuth (dpa / lby) - The health authorities have relaxed the security measures for the Bayreuth Clinic because of the suspected corona mutation cases.

In the future, a clear distinction will be made between areas with and without outbreaks.

Among other things, the shuttle quarantine for the employees of the stations and areas without an outbreak will end on Wednesday (midnight).

In addition, there is no longer a general admission freeze, announced the clinic on Tuesday evening.

For employees in wards with still current cases of corona infection, the commuting quarantine at the Hohe Warte location will be extended up to and including February 5, 2021 and for the Klinikum location until February 10, 2021.

The daily rapid antigen tests for employees close to the patient and the weekly PCR tests for all employees will initially be held until February 10th.

With the commuter quarantine, employees are only allowed to travel between their workplace and their home.

After a remarkably high number of infections, the clinic claims to have had 30 randomly selected samples tested by employees and patients - eleven are now considered suspected cases.

In a subsequent serial test of the employees, 21 tests were positive.

All have been examined, and twelve cases are also suspected of the mutation from Great Britain.

The mutation B.1.1.7 is not more dangerous in the course of the disease, but is much more contagious, said the clinic.

Depending on the study, the risk of infection should be 50 to 70 percent higher.
