Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) - Motorists in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have to expect increased right of way controls since Tuesday.
A police spokeswoman in Neubrandenburg said that mobile controls are on the road throughout the whole month.
Disregarding the right of way and priority regulations, including ignoring stop signs or driving over red traffic lights, has been one of the main causes of accidents in the northeast for years.
Every second serious accident with fatalities or serious injuries can be traced back to right of way violations.
Just a week ago, a mother and her one and a half year old twins were seriously injured in such an accident near Steffenshagen in the Rostock district.
The woman had overlooked an oncoming car while turning and had collided with it.
