Berlin (dpa / bb) - Police officers found a live hand grenade while checking a car reported as stolen in Alt-Hohenschönhausen.

The grenade was picked up by specialists from the Forensic Institute and taken to the Grunewald blasting site, the police announced on Tuesday.

In addition, during the inspection on Monday morning on Malchower Weg, the officers found three axes in the car and a blank gun and small amounts of drugs in the handbag of the 22-year-old driver.

According to her own statements, the woman does not even have a driver's license.

She and her four companions, 32, 38, 40 and 42 years old, were arrested.

All were reportedly clearly under the influence of drugs.

In the 32-year-old, the officers also found a modified pyrotechnic object, in the 38-year-old and the 42-year-old also small amounts of drugs and in the 40-year-old a blank cartridge.

They are now being investigated against, among other things, suspected theft of a motor vehicle, driving without a license under the influence of intoxicating substances, violations of the Narcotics Act and violation of the Arms and War Weapons Control Act.
