The Moldovan customs has opened a criminal investigation against a Russian diplomat, whose identity has not been revealed, for the smuggling of currency. The man, as he was crossing the border at Chișinău airport, was reported by sensors. The Russian diplomat refused to have his luggage searched, availing himself of diplomatic immunity. However, the agents were able to inspect the contents of the baggage, finding $ 50,000 worth of undeclared packages of US currency.
