Kiel (dpa / lno) - As the first of the four independent cities in Schleswig-Holstein, Kiel has recorded fewer than 50 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days for a long time.

The Robert Koch Institute gave the incidence on Tuesday at 48.2.

The value in the city fell below 50 for the first time since November 10, said Mayor Ulf Kämper (SPD) on Tuesday of the German press agency.

This shows that the people of Kiel went along and took measures.

"But the virus is unpredictable and there is no place for complacency, especially since someone in Kiel still dies of the virus almost every day."

For the state of Schleswig-Holstein, the RKI gave the incidence on Tuesday as 79.5.

The target is less than 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days.

Fighter emphasized, "I very much hope that we will quickly fall under the 50 in all of Schleswig-Holstein so that schools, daycare centers, business, culture and sports clubs can finally get a perspective again."
