On the night of Monday to Tuesday, a man suspected of damage to a car was arrested in Lille.

A lesser evil for this individual who was being pursued by the owner of the vehicle, we learned from the Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP).

At around 11:30 p.m., a police patrol circulating on rue Lydéric, in downtown Lille, noticed a car moving at high speed when the curfew start time had largely passed.

Behind the car, a man armed with a baseball bat tried to run up to her.

The scene was disturbing enough that the police decided to check everyone.

Appearances can be deceiving

They began by questioning the owner of the bat, who explained to them that he was trying to stop the one who had just damaged his personal vehicle.

The police therefore went to check on the spot and, indeed, they were able to observe the damage and collect testimony corroborating the statements of the owner of the car.

Suddenly, the accused went from the status of victim to that of implicated.

Aged 37 and known to the police, he was arrested and placed in bitch on sight.

Neither has, however, been fined for not respecting the curfew.
