Konstanz (dpa / lsw) - In the trial against a 50-year-old who is said to have killed his ex-partner with a table leg, the public prosecutor has demanded a life sentence for murder.

The man had killed the 39-year-old mother of his three children out of jealousy, the indictment said in front of the Constance district court on Tuesday.

This would be the murder characteristic of low motives.

The Croat is said to have killed his ex-girlfriend in May 2020.

The woman had separated from him because of another man.

She was packing moving boxes in the former shared apartment in Villingen-Schwenningen (Schwarzwald-Baar district) when the defendant is said to have attacked her.

The defense advocated a manslaughter conviction.

It cannot be ruled out that the man acted in an affect.

The accessory prosecution asked for a murder conviction and a determination of the particular gravity of the guilt.

A suspended sentence after 15 years in prison would hardly be possible.

At the beginning of the trial, the man had only commented on his life path.

He had remained silent about the charge.

The verdict is due this Thursday.
