Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Computers and smartphones are to play a role in kindergarten in the future.
In the new educational concept that the Ministry of Social Affairs presented on Tuesday, the chapter on “Media and Digital Education” has been thoroughly revised.
According to the paper, which sets the framework for the educational work of around 1,120 daycare centers and 900 childcare providers in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, children now observe at a very young age that smartphones and other digital devices play an important role in life.
While digital media is not recommended for children under three years of age, things are different for three to six year olds.
It is said that digital media enable new experiences if children not only consume them but also use them as tools.
"If you take a tablet with you on a walk in the woods, the children can use it as a magnifying glass or microscope."
For a self-determined, mature life, it is important to no longer just experience what a tree feels like or how paper can be cut or torn and thus changed.
"For children it basically makes no difference whether they cut up the sheet with scissors or digitally select a section of an image."
You would have to work out and practice both techniques.
“It makes sense to place them side by side on an equal footing instead of competing against each other,” recommends the Kita educational concept.
