Guxhagen (dpa / lhe) - A woman driver got away with a shock, whose small car went up in flames on the A7 near Guxhagen.

The 32-year-old was on Tuesday evening in the direction of Hanover, as the police announced.

The woman noticed smoke on her vehicle herself and was made aware of it by other drivers using the flasher.

She took the Guxhagen exit, stopped her car on the hard shoulder and was able to leave it in time before the car burned out completely.

"At no time was there any serious danger to the woman," said a police spokesman.

A technical defect was the cause of the fire.

The junction was closed on Tuesday evening for the duration of the extinguishing work.
