Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - When rapid tests are expanded to include the corona virus, old people's and nursing homes in Saarland are to receive support from Bundeswehr soldiers.

Health Minister Monika Bachmann (CDU) had submitted a corresponding application for administrative assistance to the Bundeswehr, the ministry announced on Tuesday in Saarbrücken.

The aim is daily testing of employees and all visitors to the facilities.

The residents are tested by staff twice a week.

Doctors and health care providers who visited multiple facilities each day should only be tested in the first facility, it said.

You then received a result for that day.

How high the need for support in the homes is is being asked of the porters.

"The number of corona cases in Saarland is still too high," said Bachmann.

It is still important to protect the particularly vulnerable groups, also from the new virus variants.
