The Wall Street Journal reported that US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin fired Monday all members of the Pentagon's policy-making advisory boards, ending the duties of those appointed by previous administrations, preventing Donald Trump administration candidates from assuming their duties.

The newspaper reported that Austin sacked everyone so that there is no selectivity in his decision, adding that the minister will appoint new members to each of the advisory councils in the coming weeks.

The Wall Street Journal indicated that the move was anticipated last week, when Austin suspended the process of preparing Trump administration candidates for their positions on the Pentagon's advisory boards.

Those affected include Corey Lewandowski, Trump's 2016 presidential campaign manager, and David Bossi, a former Trump deputy campaign manager.
