New York (AP) - Extravagant outfits by Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears and dozens of other world stars brought in a lot of money for a good cause at an auction in the US city of Beverly Hills.

The highest price went to pastel-colored T-shirts and trousers from the South Korean boy group BTS, as the auction house Julien's announced on Sunday.

One bidder bought the collection from the music video for the super hit “Dynamite” for $ 130,000 (107,000 euros).

BTS achieved its breakthrough in America last year with “Dynamite”.

The proceeds from the auction went to the MusiCares Foundation, which supports American artists.

In the USA, too, singers, actors and workers behind the scenes fear for their financial existence since many concert halls and theaters have been closed due to corona.

"We want to encourage", said MusiCares, "to help the thousands of people in the industry who are suffering from the pandemic".

One of the highlights of the auction was a cream-colored pearl dress that the singer Madonna wore in the 1996 musical drama "Evita".

It fetched $ 8,000.

A ballet leotard in which Britney Spears danced as a girl was auctioned for $ 5,000, a dress by Miley Cyrus from the US sitcom Hannah Montana for $ 700.

Two hats from Michael Jackson's estate were worth $ 4,500 to one bidder.

In addition, a drum head from the rock band Foo Fighters as well as several signed guitars, books and photos came under the hammer.
