Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Mutations of the corona virus have been found in several clinics in the Rhein-Neckar district.

Seven patients and five employees in clinics in Weinheim, Sinsheim and Schwetzingen are affected, as the clinic group announced on Monday evening.

"The situation is stable, regular operations continue at all locations," says Rüdiger Burger, Managing Director of the GRN Health Centers Rhein-Neckar.

In the Sinsheim clinic, three patients and three employees are affected by new variants of the coronavirus.

In Weinheim, three patients and two employees with the British virus mutant are in quarantine in the isolation ward.

In Schwetzingen, a corona patient with the South African variant is in the intensive care unit.

The mutations were found over the weekend.

The clinics announced that the protective measures had been strengthened.

Patients who carry the mutated virus would be treated spatially separate from the other Covid 19 patients and - if possible - cared for by staff who had already been vaccinated.
