Hanau (dpa / lhe) - A 37-year-old man has to answer before the Hanau district court for attempted murder.

The public prosecutor's office accuses him of shooting his eleven-year-old girlfriend out of jealousy.

This was preceded by a dispute that lasted several weeks over a suspected rival, in which the defendant also massively threatened, blackmailed and beaten the woman.

In September 2019 there was a verbal argument in Maintal (Main-Kinzig), during which the Eritrean is said to have pointed a gun at the girlfriend.

A projectile hit the victim in the head, and the alleged perpetrator initially fled.

The seriously injured woman was found by alerted police officers.

The woman was saved by an emergency operation at the University Hospital in Frankfurt.

Doctors found the projectile, which got stuck in the skull bone, without causing any further damage.

So far there is no trace of the murder weapon.

The process had to be canceled last year due to the corona pandemic.

The 37-year-old is currently serving a one-year and eight-month prison sentence for burglary.

For the process before the Hanau district court (AZ 3315 Js 15617/19), five days of hearing are initially scheduled.
