Großenhain (dpa / sn) - A small long-eared owl was rescued after a failed excursion in Großenhain.

As the Dresden Police Department announced on Monday, the animal had flown against a house wall and remained motionless in the snow.

A local resident put the owl in a box with a warm blanket on the weekend.

At the same time, she contacted the police.

Officials from the Großenhainer Revier continued to care for the animal and notified a rescue station.

The owl should now recover there.

Police from Hoyerswerda were on duty as animal rescuers on Monday morning.

According to the police department in Görlitz, a citizen had informed the officials that a fallow deer had become entangled in a fence in Königswartha (Bautzen district).

They rushed over and found the animal already exhausted.

The antlers were caught in the wire mesh.

One of the policemen knew his stuff as a hunter and knew what to do, they said.

The colleagues fixed the animal and freed it from its predicament.

It remained unharmed and ran into the adjacent forest.
