China News Service, February 1, According to Reuters, on the first anniversary of Britain’s “Brexit”, the United Kingdom formally applied to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) on February 1, local time.

When announcing the move, British Secretary of Trade Liz Truss stated that it would place the UK “at the center of some of the fastest-growing economies in the world”.

  The report pointed out that the United Kingdom made this application at the first anniversary of its "Brexit".

On January 31, 2020, the United Kingdom officially left the European Union, and the two sides entered an 11-month transition period; on December 31, 2020, the transition period for EU-UK relations ended.

  According to previous media reports, data released by the UK’s Department of International Trade show that in 2020 the trade volume between the UK and CPTPP members will reach 111 billion pounds, an annual growth rate of 8% since 2016.

  CPTPP representatives signed the agreement in 2018. The current member states include Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, Mexico, Chile and Peru.

The 11 member states have a market population of about 500 million people, and the combined gross domestic product of the member states accounts for about 13% of the global economy.
