Husum (dpa / lno) - The district of North Friesland covers the travel costs for older people to the nearest vaccination center.

This applies to people over 80 who have no other option to reach the vaccination center, the district announced on Monday.

According to the information, only the costs for the outward journey are reimbursed.

The freshly vaccinated would have to pay the return trip themselves, said a district spokesman.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Social Affairs could not initially say whether other circles in Schleswig-Holstein will reimburse seniors for the cost of taxi rides to the vaccination centers.

In order to enable people without their own car or limited mobility to visit the vaccination center, cities, districts and the country are in contact with the Nah.SH local transport network, he said.

The connection of the vaccination centers to the local public transport should be improved.
