The anti-racism movement Black Lives Matter has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

He submitted the proposal because Black Lives Matter had developed "into one of the world's most powerful movements in the fight against racial discrimination," said Norwegian left-wing politician Petter Eide on Saturday to the AFP news agency.

The debate about racism that started in the USA has attracted “attention in many countries”.

In the course of the international movement, tens of thousands of people demonstrated against racism and police violence in New York alone last year.

The trigger was the case of the African American George Floyd, who was killed in a police operation in Minneapolis.

Members of parliament and ministers from all countries, former award winners and a number of university professors are entitled to submit a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The proposals, which have to be submitted by January 31st, are usually kept secret.

This year's list should include the controversial Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, three Belarusian oppositionists, the International Fact Check Network (IFCN) and the former US President Donald Trump.

His son-in-law Jared Kushner and his former deputy in the White House, Awrahm Berkowitz, have also been nominated, the Reuters news agency reported on Sunday - for their role in the negotiations of normalization agreements between Israel and Arab states.

The lawyer Alan Dershowitz suggested the two.

Dershowitz is entitled to serve as a professor emeritus at Harvard Law School.

The winner will be announced in October.

Last year the United Nations World Food Program received the prestigious award.
