Israel agrees to send 5,000 doses of the Corona vaccine to the Palestinians

On Sunday, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced that Israel had agreed to send five thousand doses of the anti-corona virus vaccine to the Palestinian Authority to vaccinate its medical personnel, after international calls for Israel to ensure that the Palestinians receive the vaccine.

A spokesman for Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz confirmed to AFP the move.

"I confirm that we will send five thousand vaccines to the medical staff of the Palestinian Authority," he said.

On December 19, Israel began an ambitious vaccination campaign.

More than three million of Israel's population of about 9 million received the first dose of the two required doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

In the West Bank, which Israel occupied in 1967, the Palestinians, numbering about 2.8 million, have yet to receive the vaccine against the virus.

As of Sunday noon, the West Bank counted about 108,000 cases of the virus, and 1,307 deaths.

In the Gaza Strip, more than 51 thousand injuries and 522 deaths were recorded.
