The Japan Art Academy is an institution set up by the Agency for Cultural Affairs to give preferential treatment to artists with outstanding achievements in fields such as art, literary arts, and music. Members are selected internally based on the recommendations of active members. The system is such that the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology appoints the candidates selected by the vote.



Regarding this, the Agency for Cultural Affairs has set up a meeting of experts to consider how members should be selected, based on the fact that the Diet has expressed an opinion that the selection method is closed, and the first meeting was held on the 1st. I did.

The Agency for Cultural Affairs will compile the opinions of the meeting by the end of April and inform the Japan Art Academy for consideration.



Members of the Japan Art Academy have a lifelong term and are paid 2.5 million yen annually as part-time national civil servants.
