Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The perfumery chain Douglas wants to close around 20 branches in North Rhine-Westphalia.

In Cologne alone, four stores would be closed, and another three in Düsseldorf, the company announced on Monday.

The “Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung”, the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger” and the “Westdeutsche Rundfunk” had previously reported on it.

According to earlier information, the perfumery chain plans to close around 60 of the more than 430 branches nationwide, and even around 500 stores across Europe.

According to the company, the reason for this is the ever faster shifting of sales to the Internet.

Douglas had therefore put the entire branch network to the test in the past few months.
