Aachen (dpa / lnw) - The 37-year-old who died after a police check on Autobahn 44 apparently wanted to flee from the officials.

A spokesman for the police in Aachen announced on Monday.

200 grams of hashish were found in the dead person.

In addition, the man from Algeria had a no longer valid residence permit from France.

"He obviously wanted to flee," said the spokesman.

The 37-year-old walked onto the motorway on Sunday.

The federal police had previously stopped the car in which he and two other people were sitting.

The man was hit by a car on the road and was fatally injured.

A family was sitting in the car, including a pregnant woman.

She went into shock.
