(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) South Africa officially confirms another 20 million new coronary pneumonia vaccines

China News Agency, Johannesburg, January 31 (Reporter Wang Xi) South African Health Minister Mukez confirmed at a regular press conference on the 31st that the South African government has confirmed that it has received another 20 million new crown pneumonia vaccines.

South Africa has begun the first phase of vaccinations against the new crown pneumonia. The first 1.5 million vaccines are mainly for 1.25 million medical workers across the country.

Mukez announced on January 3 that South Africa plans to complete the vaccination task for more than 40 million people, or two-thirds of the total population, within this year.

Prior to this, South Africa had raised about 33 million new coronary pneumonia vaccines through channels such as the African Union, WHO, and pharmaceutical companies.

Mukez said that he is satisfied with the current progress in vaccine preparation and vaccination.

He also promised that the South African government will adopt a public bidding method and select professional institutions to properly preserve the vaccines obtained.

As the new crown pneumonia vaccine is in place one after another, the nationwide vaccination work in South Africa will also be gradually launched.

A few days ago, Gauteng, a major economic province in South Africa's new crown pneumonia hardest hit area, confirmed that in order to ensure that people can be vaccinated in time, the province’s health department has identified more than 2,000 vaccination sites.

As of press time, the total number of confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in South Africa has reached 1,453,761, and the total number of deaths has reached 44,164.

Among them, Gauteng, KwaZulu Natal, and Western Cape ranked the top three in the total number of confirmed cases.
