There are few things that can get one in such a bad mood as the yellow parking ticket under the windshield wiper.

For the residents of Södertälje, there were a few last year - a total of 12,828 yellow cards were distributed by the municipality, according to figures from the Swedish Transport Agency.

But only 60 were appealed and demolished.

In total, Södertälje residents paid SEK 12 million in parking fines last year.

The most common mistake was that the car was parked without a parking ticket.

The fine usually landed at SEK 700, and 84 percent of all fines were paid.

Cheaper to park wrong

Nykvarn's motorists went on 270 parking remarks, corresponding to SEK 146,700.

And not a single one escaped paying.

But here it is cheaper to park wrong, SEK 450 the fine usually landed on.

In Salem, the municipality distributed 92 parking remarks, corresponding to just over SEK 47,000.

One person managed to get his fine removed.

The most common fee in Salem was SEK 400.

Half a billion in parking fines

In Stockholm municipality, 454,237 parking remarks were handed out, corresponding to half a billion kronor.

Of these, only 1,249 were removed - 0.27 percent.

The most common mistake was to park without showing that you paid the fee.

Here it is also significantly more expensive: SEK 1,100 usually.
