While the Biden administration in the United States has indicated a policy of strictly responding to China due to human rights issues, it has been pointed out by the Liberal Democratic Party that Japan should also take a strict stance toward China, and the government is assessing trends in the United States and China. However, our policy is to carefully explore future measures.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who took office earlier, expressed his intention to seek cooperation with China on issues such as climate change, but reiterated that the actions of the Chinese government against the Uighurs are so-called "genocide" and raised the issue of human rights. Emphasized a strict response attitude.

Based on this policy of the US government, the Liberal Democratic Party's diplomatic subcommittee will set up a project team to ask the government to conduct diplomacy with an emphasis on human rights issues, and volunteer members of the ruling and opposition parties will join the parliamentary federation next month. It is aiming to enact a parliamentary legislation that includes measures to deny entry to Japan for persons involved in human rights violations.

Regarding China's human rights issues, the government will continue to work closely with the United States and other countries to encourage the Chinese side to provide transparent explanations, but the Chinese government "should interfere with the internal affairs of other countries." Based on the fact that the Biden administration is being restrained, the policy is to carefully explore future measures while observing trends in the United States and China.
