At least 6 people were killed and dozens of others injured in a car bomb explosion today, Saturday, in the city of Afrin, northern Syria.

The Turkish Defense Ministry said, in a statement, that the attack took place in an industrial zone in the city center, and also wounded 22 people, and blamed it on the Kurdish People's Protection Units.

The car bomb was parked in the industrial zone of Afrin, and it was detonated by unknown persons, and the explosion was heard all over the city.

The injured were taken to hospital, and firefighting teams rushed to the site of the explosion to put out the fire, and local security forces went to the site of the explosion.

In March 2018, the Turkish forces and the Syrian National Army were able, through Operation Olive Branch, to liberate the Afrin region from the grip of the Kurdish forces that had controlled it for 6 years.
