Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The regional league footballers from Borussia Dortmund have taken the lead in the western season just under a week before the top game at Rot-Weiss Essen.
With the 4: 0 (2: 0) on Sunday against Sportfreunde Lotte, the team of coach Enrico Maaßen pushed the previous leader RWE to second place in the table and is two points ahead of Essen, who were free of play on matchday 24.
The offspring of the Dortmund Bundesliga club celebrated their fourth victory in a row in January 2021.
The direct duel between the aspirants for promotion between Essen (54 points), who still have one more game to play, and Dortmund II (56) will take place on February 6th (2 p.m.) in Essen.
Before that, RWE will be the only fourth division remaining in the competition to play the round of 16 in the DFB Cup against Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday (6.30 p.m.).
