Just two years ago, the Danish handball team wrote its name in the World Cup’s gold record by winning its first title in the last edition of the tournament hosted by his country jointly with its neighbor Germany.

And after the Danish national team achieved this success at home in the last version, by defeating the Norwegian team 31-22 in the final match, the team repeated the achievement and maintained the title in the land of the Pharaohs in the final match, in which it beat its Swedish counterpart 26-24 today, Sunday.

In addition to winning the title of the last two editions of the World Cup, the Danish national team has a long and wonderful career, which went previously to winning the gold medal for the game in the 2016 Olympics by beating its French counterpart in the final, adding this gold to its European championship titles in 2008 and 2012.

And now, the team’s dream has come true, led by technical director Nikolai Jakobson, who led the team to the title two years ago, to win their second consecutive world title.

The Danish team emerged among the strongest candidates to win the title in this edition of the World Cup in light of the team's experience and technical stability, and also in the presence of many distinguished players in its ranks.

The Danish national team played the final match today for the fifth time, losing the final 3 times before crowning its first title in the last edition.

Denmark joined Sweden (1954 and 1958), Romania (1961, 1964, 1970 and 1974) and France (2009, 2011, 2015 and 2017), the teams that managed to retain the title in two consecutive championships.

Denmark has maintained its unbeaten World Championship record since losing to Hungary on January 22, 2017.

Denmark won 18 matches after that and tied once, in the quarter-finals, with Egypt this year when it sealed its qualification with a penalty shootout.

The Spanish national team secured a place on the coronation podium of the World Cup Egypt 2021, after snatching the third place and the bronze medal from the French cocks after achieving a 35-29 victory.

Dane Mikel Hansen won the award for best player in the tournament for the second time in a row.

Frances Marzo was also crowned the star of the Qatari handball team as the top scorer for the tournament, and Marzo scored 58 goals for his team in the first and second rounds of the tournament and the quarter-finals, noting that he participated with the team in each of the seven matches, the last of which was when he lost to the Swedish national team 23-35 in which he scored 5 goals.

Marzo was the top scorer of the current edition, and the stars of the four teams that reached the golden square could not keep him away from this lead.
