The closure of borders to fight the Covid-19 epidemic has entered into force but controls will not be put in place until Monday morning.

During this interval, uncertainty reigns at airports for travelers wishing to board.

To curb the coronavirus epidemic, new health restrictions came into force overnight from Saturday to Sunday: the closure of major shopping centers but also the closure of borders outside the European Union.

It is therefore now forbidden to travel outside Europe - and to Guyana and Martinique from Tuesday - except for compelling reasons.

Before the implementation of controls, some travelers took advantage of these last hours to take their flights.

There are many questions and uncertainties for travelers, worried about whether they will be able to board or not.

Thibaud, about to return home to Morocco, downloaded the certificate of compelling reason for travel to his phone but has not yet completed it.

"I am waiting to see if they will ask me or not. The company assured me that [checks started] tonight at midnight."

Indeed, if the prohibition measure has theoretically been in place since midnight, controls do not begin until Monday morning.

The quest for a PCR test

Departing people face another headache: a negative PCR test is required to travel.

However, some were taken aback and did not get their results, or simply could not make it to the laboratory.

The queue at the airport screening stand is therefore getting longer.

"I still missed my flight, despite the fact that it was to go to a funeral", regrets Elisabeth.

Arrived at 7 am, she still did not have her test on Sunday evening.

"Some got their results in two hours," she pleaded.

This sesame is nevertheless essential to him.
