A woman died after defeating herself to escape the fire in her apartment on the night from Saturday to Sunday, in Drancy (Seine-Saint-Denis), Paris firefighters announced this Sunday.

Called around 2:15 am by this woman stranded in the room of her apartment on the 6th floor, the firefighters discovered her on their arrival lying on the ground, dead, outside the building.

His age was not specified.

A badly extinguished cigarette

The very likely track is that of a fire caused by a badly extinguished cigarette by the husband, which would have set fire to the sofa on which he had fallen asleep, the same source said.

A third, unidentified person was also present in the apartment.

She and the husband were taken to hospital with minor burns and smoke poisoning, along with a third resident of the 14-story building.

The firefighters evacuated the 70 people present inside before controlling the fire which did not spread to the other floors.
