Garmisch-Partenkirchen (dpa / lby) - In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the first home race of the winter in the Alpine Ski World Cup is on Saturday (11.00 a.m.).

Contrary to what was planned, the athletes should not compete in a downhill but in a Super-G.

Because no training sessions were possible on Thursday and Friday due to persistent rain, no descent can take place.

Starnberg-born Kira Weidle regretted the rejection as a candidate for a top place - she would have liked to show herself in her favorite discipline at the dress rehearsal for the World Cup.

In the Super-G, the 24-year-old is a bit weaker.

In addition to Weidle, the DSV also nominated 19-year-old Anna Schillinger from Regensburg.

Ultimately, Weidle should also be happy if it is possible to drive at all.

The weather forecast for Saturday made the organizers tremble about the implementation of the event;

Rain, snow and wind could affect the slopes and make a race too dangerous.

A second Super-G should follow on Sunday.
