Hanover (dpa / lni) - Lower Saxony's Minister of Health Carola Reimann (SPD) once again regretted the technical difficulties when starting appointments for corona vaccinations this week.

"I am really sorry that callers could not get through and thus had inconvenience," she told the "Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung" (HAZ / Saturday).

The rush was enormous and there were technical problems.

On Thursday, the first day of vaccination, 700,000 people called in the first hour, according to Reimann.

During the day there were around 8.9 million call attempts, the online portal registered 5.9 million hits in the first hour and a half.

“Over the whole day there was an average of 1.4 million inquiries per hour.

That's extreme. "

Reimann emphasized that all 500,000 persons entitled to vaccinations, i.e. all over 80 years of age, have the same right to get a vaccination appointment.

"We have now looked at everything again and fixed the incorrect telephone announcements," said the minister.

The provider also remedied the overload of the telephone network.

Reimann left the question of when all over 80-year-olds in Lower Saxony were vaccinated.

This cannot be said because of the delay in delivery of the vaccines.
