One of Berlin's great strengths is its resilience.

For decades people had made themselves comfortable in the west of the city behind the wall, well padded with grants and at peace with themselves and their practical, if not always entirely legal, arrangements between local politics and business.

Just had to take care of each other on the island.

I was creative.

In this sense, the red-red-green Senate is possibly above all tradition-conscious.

Especially these days.

The Senator for Finance, for example, has, as the "Spiegel" reports, submitted a draft to gently pray former state secretaries after their political career: They should be allowed to return to their former civil servant status, with old salaries.

If such an office is not vacant, one will be found.

Helpful for state secretaries who are no longer state secretaries after the election in Berlin in autumn.

The Justice Senator, on the other hand, disregarded a court and the highest court rulings when awarding important judicial posts.

Not exactly what the rule of law provides.

The case is different with the Senator of Culture, who obviously has memory problems in particular.

In a committee of inquiry, one of his statements did not quite fit that of his administration, or in other words, it was probably wrong.

But, according to the senator: "It can happen to anyone." The health senator was even more creative.

On Thursday, to the astonishment of many, she announced that Berlin would now take the vaccine into its own hands.

However, the Berlin-Chemie company that was supposed to produce and bottle it was also astonished.

It denied.

Will all of this have consequences?

One of the great weaknesses of Berlin is its resilience even against allegations.

Or as one would say elsewhere: resignation.

Doesn't use anything.
