Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Before the federal and state vaccination summit this Monday, Brandenburg's Minister of Health Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens) asked the federal government to quickly deliver the Astrazeneca vaccine to the states.

"It is now very important that the new vaccine is delivered immediately," said Nonnemacher on Saturday.

The approval of a further effective vaccine is the chance to rapidly alleviate the current serious shortage of vaccine doses.

That is why reliable delivery commitments are necessary.

In view of considerable criticism of the slow start of vaccination and the production problems at some manufacturers, Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) wants to discuss the situation on Monday.

The prime ministers of the federal states, several federal ministers, vaccine manufacturers and representatives of the EU Commission, who buys vaccines from various manufacturers for the entire EU, are to take part in a video conference.

Brandenburg's Minister of Health expects “concrete results” from the meeting.

“We have fulfilled our mandate and in a short time created the necessary vaccination capacities to be able to vaccinate a large number of people quickly.

What is missing are the vaccination doses, ”said Nonnemacher.

The federal government and the EU are responsible for the procurement of vaccines.

She expects reliable and punctual deliveries from the manufacturing companies in particular.
