In connection with the case of receiving an anal examination to confirm Corona 19 when entering China, the Chinese state media reported that "in some cities, it is conducted for high-risk groups."

According to the state-run Global Times on the 29th, the method of collecting samples from the anus is targeting high-risk groups, such as those who are arriving in Beijing and Qingdao in Shandong Province and those in close contact with the confirmed cases.

In Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, this method is also used to monitor the health of frozen food stevedores.

In China, early last year, the Shanghai authorities stopped conducting an anal examination for inpatients with Corona 19 when they were discharged from the hospital. However, the Global Times explains that some cities are doing it again as the pressure to quarantine Corona 19 has increased recently.

It has been reported that the sample collection is performed by an inspector using a cotton swab when the subject is in bed with his pants down.

Recently, complaints have been raised in the online community of Korean residents in Beijing that they were forced to undergo an anal examination during the immigration process.

According to the Global Times, online in China also shows embarrassment about anal examinations, and opinions express doubts whether this method should be introduced in addition to the existing oral and blood sample tests.

The Global Times said it is difficult to obtain a large-scale anal sample, but that this method is more accurate.

According to experts, as the virus in the throat and nose disappears before the anus, an anal exam is more appropriate for finding asymptomatic infections or people with no respiratory symptoms.

Professor Lu Hongzhou of the Shanghai Public Hygiene Center at Fudan University said, "Although a large-scale anal examination is difficult to realize, we support expanding the target to high-risk groups, which are the subjects of medical observation and all inbound travelers."

The Chinese authorities are making every effort to block the spread of diseases caused by population movement in the wake of the special transportation period for the Lunar New Year, which lasts 40 days from the 28th to the New Year, and is also wary of the possibility of virus influx through imported cargo.

China's customs authorities said that in the past week, the corona 19 virus was detected in the packaging of products from cod from Russia, mackerel from Indonesia, squid from Pakistan, and chicken legs from Brazil, and that imports of products from the relevant companies were suspended for a week.
