In the ADAC monitor “Mobile in medium-sized cities” published on Friday, Freiburg ranks fourth.

Karlsruhe and Mannheim are in the middle of the ranking with 12th and 14th place.

For the analysis, road users were surveyed in 29 medium-sized German cities last year.

Freiburg scored particularly well in the area of ​​satisfaction with buses and trains, taking third place.

Mannheim (15th place) and Karlsruhe (16th place) are again in the midfield.

Even the most satisfied pedestrians live in Freiburg (2nd place), Karlsruhe and Mannheim are in the middle with 16th and 18th place.

In the passenger car sub-area, there is an overall negative balance in all three Baden-Württemberg cities: the dissatisfaction of motorists clearly predominates in Karlsruhe (27th place), followed by Freiburg (18th place) and Mannheim (12th place).

In contrast, there is more praise than criticism in the bicycle sub-index.

Here, with satisfaction, Karlsruhe (2nd place) prevails ahead of Freiburg (4th place).

Mannheim ranks 13th and is thus in the middle of the field.

In Karlsruhe, according to the ADAC Nordbaden, the cycle path network, the condition of the cycle paths and their width are rated particularly positively.

But cyclists in Karlsruhe are also very satisfied with the feeling of security.

The ADAC Monitor is a nationwide survey of around 11,600 residents and commuters.

The respondents travel by car, public transport, bicycle or on foot.

400 interviews were conducted in each city.
