Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) - The AfD state association Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania wants to elect its candidates for the upcoming state and federal elections in Neubrandenburg in March.

The state chairman Leif-Erik Holm announced on Friday.

"We will not object to the administrative court ruling because the Jahnsportforum has reserved a new date for us in March," said the member of the Bundestag.

It is expected that the state party conference will be the third attempt.

The largest opposition party in the Schwerin state parliament reacted to a ruling by the Greifswald administrative court.

This had decided a few days ago that the city of Neubrandenburg would not have to rent the Jahnsportforum to the AfD for the party congress with 350 participants at the beginning of February - as was last planned.

The city justified this with the strict corona restrictions in force.

The AfD-MV had applied for temporary legal protection against the city's decision.

The court rejected this.

The corona incidence in the northeast was 98.3 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days on Thursday, and 136.8 in the Mecklenburg Lake District.

"The citizens should know six months before the election who would like to represent them in the state and Bundestag," said Leif-Erik Holm.

The elections are planned for September 2021.
