Authoritative Newsletter|Normalization of national centralized procurement of drugs

Chen Jinfu, deputy director of the National Medical Insurance Administration, said at a press conference on the 29th that he would promote the normalization and institutionalization of centralized drug procurement.

The country’s “group purchase” is based on volume-for-price. Centralized procurement will gradually cover all types of drugs, focusing on including drugs with large quantities and high purchase amounts in the basic medical insurance drug catalog, so as to guide drug prices back to a reasonable level and reduce the burden on the masses.

As of 2020, the country has collected 112 medicines with an average price reduction of 54%.
