Frankfurt / Berlin / Essen (dpa) - Deutsche Bank customers may have to prepare for longer waiting times for telephone inquiries to the financial institution from this Saturday (30.1.) On.

The Verdi and DBV unions called on DB Direkt GmbH employees on Friday to go on open-ended strikes.

This is intended to increase the pressure on employers in the wage dispute that has been going on for months.

The strikes in the call centers in Berlin and Essen are to start on Saturday at 6 a.m.

The strike will last until "the employer side submits a negotiable tariff offer," said Verdi.

This was preceded by several warning strikes.

In addition to telephone customer service, the tasks of DB Direkt also include direct sales of selected Deutsche Bank banking products.

Verdi is demanding six percent more wages for employees retrospectively from April 1, 2020, but at least 150 euros.

In addition, the union wants to enforce a choice between money and free time and the introduction of a 13th month salary.

According to Verdi, the employers have offered 1.5 percent more money from November 2020 and a further increase of 1.5 percent from January 1, 2022 in the four rounds of negotiations so far.
