Hohenbrunn (dpa) - After driving in a serpentine line over two Bavarian motorways, police officers stopped an intoxicated driver - and then had to break a window to get him out of the locked vehicle.

The 50-year-old was initially on the A 99 on Thursday evening, as the police announced.

He ignored a patrol that wanted to check him and switched to the A 8 in the direction of Salzburg.

Since he was now driving in a serpentine line, the officers throttled the following traffic and finally stopped the man in the middle of the road at the level of the Holzkirchen junction.

"Since the Munich resident did not open the locked car, the left rear window of the car was smashed after repeated threats," a statement said.

The driver was taken out of his car and taken to the hospital for an alcohol test.
