Kiel (dpa / lno) - Bundeswehr soldiers have been helping in several districts and cities in Schleswig-Holstein with corona rapid tests in nursing homes since Friday.

The Federal Ministry of Health announced on Friday that the Bundeswehr had temporarily assigned 178 members.

They had been trained by the German Red Cross or would still be.

Around 200 homes had registered a need for support.

"My heartfelt thanks go to everyone involved, especially the soldiers who make the rapid deployment possible," said Minister Heiner Garg (FDP).

The Bundeswehr is to be deployed until suitable civilian helpers are found.

We are looking for volunteers from medical, nursing and other health professions or those with social training, but also suitable people without medical training.

According to the Federal Agency, the remuneration should be based on 20 euros per hour.
