Potsdam (dpa / bb) - residents, commuters and visitors to Potsdam have divided opinions about traffic in the state capital.

That emerges from the large-scale study “Mobil in der Stadt” by the ADAC in 29 medium-sized German cities, which was presented this Friday.

On the one hand, there are pedestrians, local public transport passengers and cyclists who are above average satisfied with their personal mobility situation.

Opposite them are motorists who are more dissatisfied than in any other of the cities examined.

As a rating, the ADAC determined an index value that indicates in percentage terms whether satisfied or dissatisfied road users predominate.

In the online survey, 12,000 interviews were evaluated, an average of 400 per city.

Münster has the highest overall index with 35 points, with Mönchengladbach bringing up the rear.

There the index is only 3. The overall index is made up of the individual partial evaluations for car traffic, bicycle traffic, local public transport and pedestrians.

The overall index for Potsdam gives a value of 23. That is rank 12 of the 29 examined cities and thus the same value as Karlsruhe.

According to ADAC, pedestrians are the most satisfied in Potsdam (46 points, 5th place in a city comparison).

The short distances, the range of secured crossing options and the lighting of the crossing options are seen as positive - the behavior of cyclists, the seating options along the paths and the accessibility for people with restricted mobility are seen as negative.

Drivers are the least satisfied (-13 points).

The signposts on the streets, the behavior of pedestrians in compliance with the rules and the road conditions are named as pluses.

There are minus points for construction site management, the parking space available throughout the city and the amount of parking fees.

The index value -13 points is the worst in comparison with all cities.

The ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg demanded in view of the poor evaluation of motorists, the range of Park + Ride spaces on the outskirts to relieve the city center.

Parking garages could also be better signposted so that more can be used.
