A liquid nitrogen leak at a food factory in northeast Atlanta killed six people on Thursday, with a dozen more being evacuated to hospital, local police said.

The first reports show "five deaths confirmed on the spot", the cause of the chemical leak, which did not cause an explosion, remaining unknown for the time being, said in a press conference a police official of Gainesville, Georgia.

Three people in "critical" condition
