Mainz (dpa / lrs) - Public order offices and police in Rhineland-Palatinate are checking compliance with the corona rules nationwide for the third time today.

It is not only about the mask requirement, but also about closed shops and the assembly rules.

"The forces will be present particularly in cities and counties with high incidence values," said Interior Minister Roger Lewentz (SPD).

The focus is on Ludwigshafen, Frankenthal, Speyer, Worms and the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis.

In particular, compliance with the new obligation to wear a medical mask in shops and public transport as well as the local nocturnal exit restrictions are to be checked.

Another focus will be on monitoring popular excursion destinations.

According to the Interior Ministry, this is the third nationwide inspection day.

Anyone who violates the obligation to wear a mouth and nose cover has to pay.

As a rule, according to the Ministry of the Interior, a violation costs a fine of 50 euros.
